If you are considering attending FlightSimExpo (I highly recommend you to if you can), you may be happy to know that the organization has managed to secure some nice discounts and special rates to make it all a bit easier (and less expensive).

Here’s the full press-release:

HOUSTON – September 23, 2022 – One of the world’s largest dedicated flight simulation events, FlightSimExpo lands in Houston on June 23-25, 2023. Held across two locations near Houston’s Hobby Airport (HOU), the 2023 event will offer flight simulation fans the chance to interact with developers, try out the latest hardware, hear the latest developments, and meet fellow sim enthusiasts.

As in previous years, event seminars will be livestreamed for online-only attendees to participate from anywhere.

Initial 2023 Event Schedule

The three-day 2023 event schedule offers a jam-packed weekend that’s perfect for avgeeks and flight simmers from around the world. The event kicks off on Friday, June 23 with a series of seminars and announcements from some of simulation’s biggest developers. Later on Friday, registered attendees are invited to join a welcome reception and social event featuring light fare and a free drink. Friday seminars and the welcome reception take place at the DoubleTree Houston Hobby.

On Saturday and Sunday, the event shifts to the Lone Star Flight Museum, a 130,000 sq. ft. air-conditioned museum located on Ellington Airport (EFD), about a 15-minute drive from the DoubleTree and Hobby Airport. Nestled amongst warbirds, fighter jets, and drones, attendees will find hands-on flight simulation exhibits where they can try the latest in flight simulation software and hardware. Speaker rooms will feature how-to seminars and educational discussions throughout the weekend.

Admission to the museum is included with FlightSimExpo registration. The facility hosts over 20 aircraft on static display, the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame, Redbird flight simulators (including certified devices), and much more. Attendees will be able to book loggable flight time with a Certificated Flight Instructor on certified simulators and purchase rides in the museum’s vintage aircraft throughout the weekend.

Travel Details

As in previous years, FlightSimExpo has negotiated significantly discounted hotel rooms for attendees. This year, rooms are available at two locations. Rooms at DoubleTree Houston Hobby—also the host of all scheduled Friday events—are available for $109 per night. Attendees can also stay at the nearby Houston Marriott South at Hobby Airport for $89 per night.

Bookings made at these special FlightSimExpo rates also include free transportation to/from Hobby Airport, parking, morning coffee, and more. All quoted rates exclude taxes and are only available to attendees of FlightSimExpo. To book, visit flightsimexpo.com/travel.

“Reserve your room now,” says Phil Coyle, co-founder of FSA. “The discounted rates offer as much as $100 off list prices on hotel websites and we expect they will sell out very quickly! Plus, booking with us offers perks like free parking, transportation to and from Hobby Airport, and more.”

To help make travel as easy as possible, FlightSimExpo has negotiated special rates on flights from Delta Air Lines. Using a link or booking code from the FlightSimExpo website, savings of up to 10% are available on Delta flights. Organizers also expect that discounts of up to 10% will be available from Southwest Airlines when their June 2023 flight schedule is released for bookings later this year.

Transportation between the hotels and Lone Star Flight Museum is not provided, but organizers are working to secure additional travel discounts and packages with rental car and rideshare providers. As FlightSimExpo 2023 approaches, check flightsimexpo.com/travel for discounts from Southwest Airlines, ground transportation details, and information on flying your own aircraft to Ellington Airport (EFD).

Other Activities

As one of the country’s biggest aerospace centers, Houston offers FlightSimExpo attendees plenty to do before and after the event. The organizers are working with Space Center Houston, the FAA, and airlines with facilities in the area to arrange tours and other activities for attendees throughout the weekend. The event also includes an exclusive dinner on Friday night for Flight Simulation Association (FSA) Captains.
