FGUK Westland Scout for FlightGear

Being a “final release” doesn’t mean FGUK is done with it. Far from it. Well, in all honesty, they are never done with the helicopters they release as they keep on adding features and updating it (which is, obviously, a good thing).

Here’s FGUK’s description on the work done on this model:

Although the cockpit and clickable switches are still a work in progress and will be updated in coming released the experience of this classic helicopter is well worth a try for anyone with a love of rotary.

Many missing textures and details have been added all over, both in and outside. New rotor detailing and animations for the main rotor as well as new textures for the tail rotor are also present.

The FDM has been fully updated and now performs incredibly close to real life data. Although it's worth remembering that this is an early generation helicopter and will require a different approach and finesse to newer models.

This version was developed to be used on FlightGear 2017 and higher and it won’t work on any version before that.

As you can see below, there was quite some work involved to get this version to completion but FGUK is already planning ahead and not only they are listening to your feedback, but they also already have a game-plan for an upcoming version, which will include the following:

  • 3D cockpit work on main console and panel
  • New Rotor Head
  • Textures flipped on mid-section.

Meanwhile, here are the release notes for the FGUK Westland Scout v1.0 for FlightGear:
