Dream sim: 6DOF X-Plane 11 motion platform

Our reader Ted was kind enough to send us his video demostrating his DIY 6DOF motion platform, where he can enjoy his X-Plane 11 in full motion -- and VR.

According to Ted, it took him 3 months and he spent around AUS$3500 (~US$2,700.00/ ~ €2,300.00) to build it:

The platform is built using readily available parts and DIY skills. I built the Anet A8 3D printer for $220 from a kit for this project. The main components are 450W 24v DC motors, Sabertooth 2x60 motor drivers, 12v 33Ah batteries, 3D printer lead screws, carbon fibre actuator rods, SAAS rally seat, pro flight trainer puma helicopter controls, HTC Vive virtual reality headset, high end gaming PC and of course X-Plane 11.05 flight simulator.

Check the video below. Are you as jealous as we are?
