X-Plane 11 Beta 4 with updates to the helicopter flight model

Today's X-Plane official newsletter brings some interesting news. Especially about the updates to the helicopter flight model by Austin Meyer.

Austin's still working on improving X-Plane's systems and flight model for version 11. Along with some other updates and tweaks, here's what's coming for helicopters in Beta 4 (which nas no release date yet):

Also I have gone over the rotor dynamics in X-Plane 11 starting with beta 4 to dial in the effects of hovering in and out of ground effect by effectively bouncing prop wash off the ground.Carefully tuning these dynamics, I’ve gotten the various power requirements and climb and descent rates really close to real helicopters acting in these sometimes catastrophic corners of the envelope.

It's amazing to see that the team (and Austin in particular) is working on improving this part of the sim.

We're feeling the love, Austin. Thanks!
