If you are paying attention to the beta releases of X-Plane 11.10, you have noticed that the team is very busy improving the sim, making fixes and getting everything ready for the final release.
On the release notes for Beta 5, there was something that really got our attention: "Restores all the VRS and stuff on the helos.".
What does this mean? Well, that's what we asked as well. And we DID ask Austin Meyer about it.
As it turns out, VRS was turned off on the previous betas, by accident (probably a bug). According to Austin, it's now back in but there's more: Austin actually took his time to fine tune other aspects of helicopter aerodynamics and physics: " proper settling with power, vortex ring state, hover efficiency, and effective translational lift".
So, here it is, folks. Austin shows us some more love.
Did you get Beta 5 yet? No? Well, go get it (make sure you install it separately from your regular X-Plane) and give Laminar and Austin your feedback. Especially if you are a real pilot. As a community, we can help helicopters get better and better in X-Plane.
