While I was strolling around Facebook, I found something at the DCS Huey Facebook group that I found really interesting. Someone published some photos of the WinWing collective (which we reviewed here), with a hydraulic damper.
Zach Crosby was the man behind this modification and, like I said, he was very kind and sent us the original photos and the list of stuff you will need. Thanks, Zach!
By the way, I have edited the images (resized and cropped).
Here’s the part list, with some handy links where possible. A lot of this stuff can be found in hardware stores as well.
- Damper
- Bolts: 1/4-20x 1” w/nuts (x2)
- Conduit Hangar (you only need 1)
- Tap for a 1/4-20 thread: you can use one of these
Side-note: you can probably just use a self-tapping screw or find another one of the nuts (I think they are “T-Slot Nuts”) that slides into the WinWing mount so you can adjust the damper to your needs. Here’s a link for reference. - Optional: Washer for the bottom adapter to WinWing mount.
