This remarkable location in Iceland is being developed with breathtaking detail by the team that brought us some great bush flying classics.
And, if you did, you were probably enjoying the amazing work by the 2-man team known as PropStrike Studio.
Unfortunately, PropStrike is not one of those developers that doesn’t release a lot of products but when they do, they are usually of the highest quality. Almost instant classics that folks who fly low and slow love.
And that’s our thing, right?
It’s no surprise that when they announce a new project, folks get excited over it. It’s even more exciting when we realize the scenery is just perfect for helicopters. Which is the case.
Thridrangar Lighthouse (or Þrídrangaviti Lighthouse) is, well, a lighthouse at the Southern Iceland, placed on the top of a huge rock 4.5 miles (~7,2Km) from mainland Iceland, and at an altitude of 120 feet (36 meters).
The place is absolutely stunning and the only way to get there is – you guessed it – by helicopter.
The video below was shared by a helicopter pilot that visited the lighthouse and it’s one of the most amazing and breathtaking videos I’ve seen. The location is gorgeous, and it should provide an amazing challenge for the virtual pilots.
PropStrike Studio has been working hard (for months, actually) in replicating the place in painstaking detail. When asked about the work they have been having to make it justice, their response was “We are trying to push modeling and texturing even further with this one. Being such an isolated element from the world with trees and other maps, we want to see how far we can increase que quality of the maps and having all the elements in full PBR.”
This will be he first of what PropStrike calls “a new array of series” called “Adventure Series” which will take us to small adventures in unusual places.
Enjoy PropStrike’s work on these screenshots. No date of release has been set yet.
