Project Stratosphere Bo105 CBS-5 for MSFS

Project Stratosphere has been busy—on multiple fronts. The team has been working hard to get the Bo 105 for MSFS out of the door, but they have also been updating the community through their website. In fact, they have released 3 dev updates.

The first of these was released on May 14th and covers the delay (from May to June) as well as the planned configuration options:

  • Standard skids
  • High clearance skids
  • Snow skids
  • Snow boots / Bear claws
  • Side-mounted camera (non-functional)
  • Smoke system (functional)
  • Wire strike protection (non-functional)

Project Stratosphere also talks about its partnership with Volation, “a company that emerged in 2020 to meet the growing demand for legitimate and knowledgeable support in marketing and managing aircraft and parts transactions globally”.

With this partnership, Project Stratosphere was able to provide access to reference images and get “detailed insights that are essential in ensuring accuracy and authenticity”.

On the May 20th update, the team talks about the list of liveries that will be released with the helicopter:

  3. DRF Luftrettung -D-HLLL🇩🇪
  4. Luftrettung - D-HGSA 🇩🇪
  5. The Flying Bulls - D-HSDM
  6. The Flying Bulls - D-HUDM

  9. Canada Coast Guard - C-GCHW 🇨🇦

Project Stratosphere will release more liveries after the launch and will also make the paint kit available on release. The team is willing to release community-made liveries as part of future updates if the authors wish to. Pretty cool.

Finally, testing is brought up and Project Stratosphere let us know that there is a small team of 2 testers who are familiar with the aircraft and that they will be expanding that team. If you are interested in joining them, you can apply here.

And, finally, on the May 22nd update, we get to see a few more screenshots of the Bo 105 and to listen to it. The team also released a video preview of the helicopter’s sounds — much to our delight.

There will be another update on May 31st where the team will be showing the following:

  • Fully decalled interiors
  • Animated gauges
  • Animated flight controls

By June 5th, Project Stratosphere hopes to have a “much clearer picture of the project’s overall progress”. By then they will be able to let us know how close they actually are to the release.
