Pro Flight Trainer Puma X

During the last few weeks, Pro Flight Trainer has been releasing piece of information about the new Puma. The company released a few computer renders of the new model, as well as the official list of features for the Puma X (which is the name of the upcoming version) and now they have released a couple of photos (almost like behind-the-scene photos as these were not taken by a professional) showing one of the very first units being assembled at their factory.

Not only that, they have also indicated the price for the Puma X (with a single-throttle) as well as the Puma X2 (dual-throttle) and the Ready-To-Fly (RTF) version.

So, the Puma X will cost $1,499.00 and the Puma X2 will cost $100 more: $1,599.00.

The RTF, which is a version that you just need to take out of the box, plug into your computer and fly, will cost you an extra $300 because of all the extra work in packaging and shipping.

Pro Flight Trainer has not indicated when the new version will become available for purchase, but it seems the company is already starting to build some stock.

Upgrade path

One of the questions we usually see popping up has to do with the possibility of upgrading the previous version of the Puma (version 4). Users have been asking about the ability to switch to the new, more complete (and possibly with a dual-throttle) collective or even to switch the electronics, upgrading the old potentiometers and using the more modern hall sensors.

Pro Flight Trainer is well aware of the interest in upgrading the previous Pumas but the company is not ready to disclose any information yet. This is something they will eventually address in the future. Unfortunately, we will have to wait to find out more.
