Ollie from FlightDeckX joins HeliSimmer

If you are an X-Plane fan, you probably know FlightDeckX and that it had to be closed down by its founder Ollie due to personal reasons. Say hi to Ollie!

Unfortunately, the burden of managing a website and taking care of all the little aspects in the background, along with real life (which has this nasty habit of getting in the way of cool stuff such as simming and managing websites) was simply too much and Ollie had to close down one of the best resources the community had.

Fortunately, Ollie is a friend and, after the news that the website was shutting down, him and I have been exchanging messages and talking a bit about the situation. Ollie asked me to host his latest review for FDX and we started talking about him joining HeliSimmer as an author, in a lighter way.

Well, folks, it’s with great pleasure that we announce that Ollie is now part of the team!

He will be bringing some X-Plane news and perhaps other goodies in the future.

Ollie’s priority is still his family (as it should!) but he will still be involved in the community through HeliSimmer which, for me personally, is a tremendous honor and pleasure.

It would be a shame that we would lose the passion and commitment that we all know Ollie has and is capable of and I know Ollie would miss contributing to the community.

As such, Ollie, I would like to be the first to welcome you to HeliSimmer. May the future be bright for the community and that we may both contribute to it!

About Sérgio Costa

Sérgio has been a flight simulation enthusiast for nearly 25 years. His passion with helicopters developed during MSFS 2000 when he discovered the complexity of these aircraft and the challenge it was to control them. Since then he has been primarily a helicopter flight simmer, trying his best not to crash and kill all his virtual passengers.
