Miltech Simulations dropped a massive amount of info in their MH-60 Dev Blog #3. I won’t go through it all—but you should definitely check it out.

In a nutshell, the status of the project is quite advanced, with a lot of the initial work for MSFS 2020 being finished. This means that she is not exactly ready to be released for MSFS 2020 since a lot of testing is going to be done, with people who know the helicopter really well lending a hand to the team.

But, even before it is released for MSFS 2020, Miltech Simulations will convert it to MSFS 2024 as the company will release both versions at the same time.

The MH-60 S/R/T is expected to be priced in the mid-to-high $30 range (USD), and it will include both versions.

Among other interesting things, Miltech also talks about their upcoming Miltech Mission Hub, which is a separate purchase (priced in the “low-mid 10s USD$”), but that will allow us to play and create missions for the MH-60.

Once the Mission Hub is launched, Miltech is planning for it to support the following types of missions:

  • Firefighting
  • Search and rescue
  • External transport operations (sling loading)
  • Anti-submarine warfare
  • Shipborne missions

At a later stage, the Mission Hub should have the ability to offer other types as well:

  • Aerial refueling
  • Tactical campaigns
  • Heavy cargo operations
  • Surveillance and reconnaissance missions

On top of all this, Miltech Simulations also wants to add multiplayer compatibility.

The Mission Hub will be initially “tailored to the MH-60” and will bring over 30 custom-made sceneries for the MH-60 but Miltech Simulations will extend it to their other products: the CH47, MV22, and M2K.

What’s more interesting, Miltech says that the Mission Hub “can also be used with any aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator to design and share full mission environments, including custom campaigns, scenery object placement, and naval asset integration. Compatibility modes for firefighting, search and rescue (SAR), and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) will be provided for aircraft that are not natively integrated.”

This is exactly what I expected MSFS 2024 to bring when Microsoft talked about having a mission system in the sim.

To support ship operations and other missions, Miltech Simulations is also adding new assets like USCG Cutters, sinking ships, cruise ships, and more.

Like I said, the amount of information in the blog post is insane and it would be a disservice for me to just copy and paste it all here. I wanted to highlight what I think is the most interesting and important (for me, at least) but I highly recommend you head out to Miltech Simulations’ website and read everything by yourself.
