Surprise, surprise. A few weeks ago Miltech Simulations released a roadmap for their upcoming releases for MSFS and there was one “secret” project that the company didn’t indicate what it would be.
It seemed like a helicopter of the UH-60 family and I said that I was “rooting for a Jayhawk since Blackbird is working on a UH-60 and we also have a freeware one out there”.
The joke’s on me, it seems! Well, kinda.
In a Facebook post on their page earlier today, Miltech Simulations announced that they are working in partnership with Blackbird Simulations and that the helicopter in question is, in fact, the MH-60 Kayhawk!
The company stated that they are “very excited about this project, as a culmination of several years of research and development in weapon systems, external sling loads and mission-based content.” They also added that this project is now in the “final integration phase, meaning that it will be released in two months or less”.
The team will be covering the Sierra, Romeo, and Jayhawk variants, “along with a wide range of cabin configurations, special features and a handful of hand-made ‘mini sceneries’”.
Miltech says that they are also “working on a brand-new, revolutionary mission system to support the aircraft, as well as other aircraft on the Miltech Simulations catalog, to support from SAR Missions and Coast Guard to Antisubmarine Warfare missions with the MH-60”. That sounds very good.
But that’s not all. Miltech Simulations is “seriously planning” on releasing UH-60 variants as a separate product in the future.
As with all the previously announced aircraft, this should be a release for both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2025.
