On a (somewhat shocking) post on their Facebook page, Indiafoxtecho has indicated that they have been working on a Mini-500 for quite some time.

According to their post, they have been “silently working in this for months as a research project which generated from our efforts in creating "external" flight models in Microsoft Flight Simulator - the idea being to become capable of creating arbitrary advanced flight models and potentially share them between different simulators.”.

The team indicates that, just like FlyInside and the Hype Development Group is doing, they are working on their own flight model, overriding the Microsoft Flight Simulator one.

Just to make it clear, Microsoft Flight Simulator does NOT support helicopters out of the box but you CAN make your own flight dynamics.

And, honestly, considering everything that has happened over the last decades with sims, even if it wasn’t possible, someone would probably find a way to do it. That’s how our community roles!

This doesn’t mean that it’s a sure thing that Indiafoxtecho will release a helicopter. Again, this is all experimental right now. And, if you are wondering why would anyone choose such a helicopter and nothing more modern, well, it is “for a number of reasons, but the main one was that we wanted to start with a very simple machine“.

Which is probably the reason why we are seeing FlyInside releasing the Bell 47 and why other developers will follow this path.

Again, let’s be very clear here, Indiafoxtecho is NOT announcing the release of a helicopter at this point. But they might, in the future.

Let’s hope so!
