We need more helicopters on all sims. That is a fact. The market is open and there’s a lot of room and quite an extensive catalog to cover. Lately, we have seen an increase in projects and developers popping up and X-Plane has been a bit of the epicenter for this, with new projects being advertised every month or so.

Earlier this week we got confirmation that we were getting the Bell 505 for FSX, P3D and X-Plane, thanks to Eagle Rotorcraft Simulations and Tom Woods (just like it happened with the Bell 429) and yesterday, a new developer posted a screenshot in our group that got some of our members intrigued.

Pedro Caldeira, the author of the screenshot then clarified it: he is developing an AW119 Koala for X-Plane.

I find this model particularly exciting, not only because it’s going to be used by the US Navy, which should get some fans but also because the Portuguese Air Force started using them very recently, to replace the (very) aged Alouette III.

Pedro sent me a few newer images of the console and he has told me that he will take “as long as it takes to make it a good quality product”. So, folks, don’t ask when, please. The man is on it.
