FlyInside is working on their helicopter flight model

FlyInside Flight Simulator has reached a new internal beta and the team is now focusing their attention on helicopters with a dedicated testing team.

FlyInside Flight Simulator Helicopter Flight Model

The team is comprised of elements from the helicopter flight simulation community (both simmers and real pilots) that are helping the team developing the fundamental basis of the flight model.

The sim already comes with 3 helicopters, developed by Milviz and adapted to the software. The Bell 407, CH-47 and MD-530 are available for those already using FlyInside Flight Simulator, although the flight model is not the final one.

FlyInside is working on what they call Heli Flight Model 2.0. This model is still in a very early stage but already has some features implemented. As per the beta notes (transcribed and adapted under permission from the team):

  • Support for helicopter auto-rotation, throttle control
  • Transverse-flow, flap-back
  • Effective Translational Lift (ETL)
  • Ground effect
  • Additional Control bindings for controlling Propeller Pitch (in anticipation of helicopter flight model)

The path is still long as the team is giving their first steps but it's great news for our community, especially considering they reached out to us in order to help them with this hard and demanding task.

We will surely ear more about this sim during the next few months.

About Sérgio Costa

Sérgio has been a flight simulation enthusiast for nearly 25 years. His passion with helicopters developed during MSFS 2000 when he discovered the complexity of these aircraft and the challenge it was to control them.

Since then he has been primarily a helicopter flight simmer, trying his best not to crash and kill all his virtual passengers.

Sérgio is's editor and writer and one of the Three Grumpy Simmers, a YouTube series and Podcast produced together with YouTubers Bel Geode and NovaWing24, obviously dedicated to flight simulation.
