In the interview, Matt talks about DCS 2.5, what is it, what new features we will be able to enjoy and even hints about the future of dynamic campaigns for this sim.

What jumped to my eyes was the following:

For example: the new tree system for 2.5 includes trees that now have collision and can block line of sight for eyeballs and sensors. This makes helicopter missions much more fun and interesting to use tree lines for masking / cover.

Additionally, the greatly increased elevation mesh resolution makes it much easier for ground units to find hull-down positions. Speaking of which, the updated map details open up Combined Arms.

Not only the terrain is more detailed, but we now have terrain features that allows us to use proper concealment from AI and systems.

Along with new smoke and lighting systems, DCS is growing to be, not only a gorgeous sim, but also bring visual features that add to the effect of being in a battle environment.
