The R66 is the first (and, so far, the only) turbine helicopter from Robinson. The helicopter was used for the EPIC world tour by Mischa Gelb (Pilot Yellow) and Ruben Dias (I met both as they passed through Portugal), which demonstrated the reliability of this machine.
Joshua Cowan got to fly in one a few months ago and he liked it so much that he immediately started working on his version for MSFS and now, as the project is nearing completion, he sent us a few images of the helicopter in the sim.
He didn’t send an official features list yet, but he did mention that the R66 will come with floats, side basket, animated passengers, 50 liveries, and a great sound kit. It will also be possible to remove the cyclic from the passenger side, as well as the collective and pedals.
There will be quite a few cockpit options as well, with all sorts of steam and glass gauges.
There’s no ETA for the release but I think it’s safe to say it will probably come out before the end of the year. Don’t take my word for it, though, it’s just my guess.
