New Rotor Run in May – Rotorhead - Caribbean Island Hop

From May 1st to May 31st, you will be able to participate in Club Chachapoya’s next Rotor Run. The Caribbean Island Hop will take rotorheads to 15 airports, spread across 15 islands in 15 countries. This offline event welcomes pilots across all sims—fly however and wherever you like!

The event kicks off at Trinidad and it will take you through the following locations:

  • Grenada
  • Canouan
  • Vincent
  • Lucia
  • Martinique
  • Dominica
  • Guadeloupe
  • Antiqua
  • Saint Kitts
  • Saint Barthelemy
  • Saint Martin
  • Beef Island in the British Virgin Islands
  • Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.

And, finally, the adventurous rotorheads will land at Puerto Rico.

As per usual, Club Chachapoya tells you to “turn off your avionics, toss out your GPS, disable your moving map, forget about flight following, abandon ATC, and Get Back to Basics”!

To participate, all you will need is “a helicopter, charts and maps, a keen sense for adventure, and the ability to have fun”.

Wondering what sim to use? Whatever works for you. This is an offline event so no one will actually be controlling what you do (unless you want to fly online with others but that is your choice).

There are a few guidelines that you should follow. And no, no one will be monitoring you so you can cheat. But that’s up to you. You have nothing real to gain with it and you won’t be hurting anyone.

Above everything, the goal is for everyone to have a good time at their own pace, which is a lot of fun since it removes any pressure and allows everyone to enjoy a common event without any stress.

Here are some basic guidelines:

  • No more than 5 legs may be flown on any flight day. It’s recommended that you fly only one or two legs each day, so you have more time to enjoy the scenery.
  • Document each flight leg with screenshots and any commentary or story you wish to author. Take those screenshots from inside the cockpit to capture all the flights from the eyes of the pilot.
  • Airspeed limited to a maximum of 140 kts.
  • Altitude (AGL) no more than 2500 ft.
  • The lower, the slower, the better.

Club Chachapoya invites you to take it easy, not rush and enjoy the adventure with other rotorheads.

Sounds good? Of course it does.
