FS Economy is fun. This free system has been around for a few years and it has amassed a great number of virtual pilots around it. Mostly, obviously, fixed-wing pilots.
This system allows you to rent or buy an aircraft and perform jobs around the world. You can gather some passengers and/or cargo and so some runs, make virtual money and go again. I won’t go through all the details, but you can read more about it here and here .
Curiously, though, it has always been more of a GA or “non-airliner” universe. Granted, nowadays there are a few airliners and some jobs you can use them on, but it has always been something for those that fly smaller aircraft (if you consider the C-130 “smaller”).
Helicopters also have a place, here but it always required a bit more of work and imagination. But it’ works and it’s even possible to do off-shore operation G.G.S. Helicopters is a FS Economy group that revolves about, well, helicopters.
This group has organized everything to help you have a great experience inside FSE. They have a set of FBOs (Fixed-Base Operators), some nice routes and a fleet with 8 types of helicopters. All for X-Plane.

Scenery companion
There’s also something else which is nice: the group is using a scenery for the Montana area which includes a ton of helipads and areas of interest, which they have made available for X-Plane’s GPS.
These points of interest have a match with the airports and airfields from FS Economy so you can pick up some jobs and fly them to and from these places. FS Economy will accept them and consider your jobs.
Helicopter Rescue Missions
What else? Well… Helicopter Rescue Missions, which I reviewed some time ago is fully compatible with this scenery, making it even more interesting to fly in this area and even joining this group.

How to join the fun
If you’re up to join these nice folks, you need to head out to the FS Economy website and create an account there if you haven’t already.
FS Economy takes a bit to get used to but once you grasp the concepts, it’s really fun and provides a bigger sense of accomplishment.
With a group such as G.G.S. helicopters, where folks have organized everything and set you up with so many cool features, it can only get better.
